I realized I never really showed you the Paris coat of arms. So here it is... photographed yesterday on the aerial metro at \u003Ci\u003ECambronne\u003C/i\u003E. Like you can see, it shows a vessel, which was, when it was created (around 1190 apparently) one of the major means of trade . The city motto, \u003Ci\u003E\u003Ca href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluctuat_nec_mergitur\"\u003EFluctuat nec mergitur\u003C/a\u003E\u003C/i\u003E (\"it is tossed by the waves, but does not sink\") means that despite the hard time Paris can experience from time to time, it is still standing! Well when I say above, it's more accurate to say, around, because flying over Paris is totally forbidden. It was nice, but not extraordinary, because for legal reasons (helicopters are noisy!) \u003Ca href=\"http://www.aviaxess.com/\"\u003Ethey\u003C/a\u003E have to take you away to the west suburbs as quickly as possible and you don't get to see much. I would not really recommend it, unless you have never been on a helicopter before. In which case, it's still a nice experience. It claims to belong to the "Church of France" better known as <i>Gallicane</i> (again, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallicanism">more on Wikipedia</a>!), a church that accepts the Roman church authority (including the one of the Pope) to a limited extent. Not to forget, on a lighter note, that every year in this Church, people can bring their animals (and not only pets, <a href="http://www.paris15.fr/Messe-des-animaux-9-10-2009.jpg">according to the poster</a>!) to be christened... It was not that kind of boats that run up and down the river while you have lunch or dinner, but one that companies can rent for a party or any event and that stays along the banks. This one belongs to \u003Ci\u003ELa Compagnie des B\u00e2teaux \u00e0 roue\u003C/i\u003E (the Paddle wheel boats company), it is called \u003Ci\u003ELe Clipper Paris\u003C/i\u003E and it's beautifully decorated (click here to visit their site, then look for \"The boats\", then \"Le Clipper Paris\").
