Ecole Estienne

There are several prestigious schools in Paris, especially in the art industry. You may know the Beaux Arts, for instance, that I already mentioned in this post, but I never told you about another one, also prestigious called l'Ecole Estienne (aka L’École supérieure des arts et industries graphiques). It was founded in 1889 and is dedicated to the "written arts" (fonts, binding, engraving...) and now to more "modern" techniques such as animation, movies, communication techniques and digital arts. It belongs to the city of Paris and it is located in the 13th arrondissement.

Party

Remember the Institut Français de la Mode this fashion school located in the Docks en Seine building, a brand new dary building byDominique Jakob et Brendan McFarlane facing the Seine in the 13th arrondissement that I already mentioned on PDP? Well, I went back two nights ago for a company party (Intel), this time on the floor above the school. It was a little empty but quite impressive. Especially the top floor where they are a huge terrace. I hope I'll be invited there next summer! Once again thank you very much   for all your messages and have a nice weekend.

Let's celebrate!

No, I have nothing in particular to celebrate, but some people must have... I found this bottle in front of La Gare d'Austerlitz (one of the 6 main train stations in Paris) and I couldn't help but taking a photo ;-) I also noticed the nice lighting that they put on the facade of the building which, I think is new. This station is mostly used to take people to Bordeaux and Toulouse, two large cities located in the South West of France. It was built between 1862 and 1867 and is going to be totally renewed in 2011. Have a good week everyone.

Learn haute couture at the Mecca!

If you wanted to work in the high-tech industries you would probably go to Silicon Valley in California, but if you wanted to work in the fashion industries you would probably come to Paris... And you would probably pay a visit to the Institut Français de la Mode - a school dedicated to fashion (and creative industries)  like I did today (Friday). Not that I actually want to work in the fashion business, but because I've always been curious to see from the inside the place where "haute couture" (and how to sell it!) is taught. The other interesting part is that the IFM is  hosted in the Docks en Seine building, a brand new dary building by Dominique Jakob et Brendan McFarlane facing the Seine in the 13th arrondissement.Pretty cool.
